i like this. it gestures to universal problems but points it neatly and functionally towards a concrete problem of economy. your characterization of objectivism vs. relativism in lit theory problem borders on an linguistic one but doesn’t capture the annoying uber subjectivity of the deconstructionists. good for you. annoying bastards. recently I’m in a regarding religion class where we sit and debate about “objective essences” and “extreme heterogeneity” that is fueled by white guilt for colonial exploits (an accident of history, you poor maligned…people) and the poor use of the “scientific” study of religion to justify said exploits. whereas I think the problem, if we remove white guilt lies with the objectivism vs. relativism debate.

No, I have never seen a Warhol in a domestic setting, prints yes, but how can that count. But having sat in the National Portrait Gallery London and viewed 8 Warhol Marilyns there before me, astonishment and wonder. Curated as part of a ‘PopPortraits’ show, this was the only true portraiture to be found amongst 60’s work where otherwise only the artist was on show. With Warhols’ Marilyns I was given high art indeed and was mesmerised for over an hour. Death, beauty, tragedy, poignancy. Ah well there you go, have a nice day x x x
